Flood estimation based on empirical means is supported using Regional Maximum Flood (RMF) methodology. The steps to be followed are as follows:
.Select the appropriate Catchment Code from the drop-down list;
.Enter the Effective Catchment Area;
.Enter the Return Period (Based on the return period, a modifying percentage is required to reduce the flood peak if the return period is less than 50 years, Frequency or YT factors can be used for this);
.Enter the Time of Concentration (This is not needed for the calculation, only if the user wishes to generate a Time Series from the calculation results, it can be left blank otherwise);
.Select the appropriate Francou-Rodier Region from the drop down list;
.Click on the Calculate Button;
.If the User wishes to generate a Time Series from the results, the Generate Time Series Button can be clicked to this effect.
.Should the user wish to save the form data, the Save and Close button can be clicked, which will link the data to the selected catchment. The next time the form is opened, if the same catchment is selected the form will be populated with the saved data.
The calculation Zone will be displayed top right (Transtion/Flood), along with the Empirical Parameters (including Flood Peak) below that. All results are fully interpolated, with no absolute jumps between data points.
